What is SCALE-MX
SCALE-MX is the transfer initiative of Manufacturing-X. Our aim is to demonstrate the benefits of the Manufacturing-X industrial data ecosystem to users, suppliers and multipliers and to motivate them to get involved.
We explain the Manufacturing-X data ecosystem in a clear and practical way. To this end, we organize congresses, forums, workshops and online formats to engage with users, providers and multipliers. We are in close contact with the X projects, prepare their use cases for specific target groups and communicate them to a broad audience, especially SMEs.
SCALE-MX is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and is an association of VDMA, ZVEI, Niedersachsen Next, Bayern Innovativ, DIHK Service GmbH and WIK under the leadership of VDMA and ZVEI.

11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.Lemgo - SmartFactoryOWLBest Practices Event: The Digital Data Room as an Opportunity for Competitiveness – A Solution for SMEsEnsuring their competitiveness is currently the biggest challenge for many small and medium-sized enterprises in particular—rising costs, reporting requirements, and a shortage of skilled workers are limiting their room to maneuver. At the same time, relevant data on orders, asset conditions, and supply chains is scattered across various systems, technically incompatible, and rarely shared due to fears of losing control—leaving potential for efficiency and innovation untapped. Digital data rooms can help in several ways here, for example, by flexibly utilizing production capacities within partner networks, bridging bottlenecks, and improving one’s own delivery capabilities, as well as making service and fault diagnosis significantly faster and more precise. In doing so, data rooms rely on European standards and federated structures that prevent new data monopolies and ensure fair competitive conditions for many providers, including small and medium-sized enterprises. In the workshop “The Digital Data Room as an Opportunity for Competitiveness – A Solution for SMEs,” the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs), the SCALE-MX project, and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA will provide a low-threshold introduction to the “data room for everyone” at SmartFactoryOWL in Lemgo and demonstrate in a practical manner how SMEs can utilize such approaches step by step.
