From the Digital Product Passport to the Industrial Data Room—Sharing Data, Creating Value, Securing the Future
How can companies securely use and share product data to create new value? This question was the focus of the best-practice event organized by the Heilbronn-Franken Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), SCALE-MX, and the GEMÜ Group on June 30, 2026, in Kupferzell.
A key focus of the event was on practical demonstrations and real-world use cases. Experts from industry and research demonstrated, among other things, how digital product passports can be implemented in companies, what role digital twins play in this process, and how existing product information from different systemscan be made available for the DPP. In addition, specific applications for secure data exchange and digital services were presented. A firsthand look at the demonstrators from GEMÜ and SCALE-MX made it clear how the transition from individual product data to networked data ecosystems can be successfully achieved in practice.
Another focus was on how companies can take their first steps toward establishing a data room and enabling cross-organizational data exchange. In the interactive workshop, participants gained insights into the SCALE-MX Readiness Checklist and explored the key areas of action—ranging from strategy and processes to data and IT infrastructure, as well as legal matters, compliance, employees, and skills.
Conclusion:Many companies are familiar with the concepts of DPP and data rooms. The next step is to identify specific use cases, allocate internal resources, engage partners, and systematically build their own data room readiness.
